I’ve done it again, I’ve started another game studio. The studio is called Akupara Games.
Back when I started Night Light Interactive in 2012, I was a recent college grad, and looking to mainly create a portfolio piece to help launch my career in games. It was an incredible learning experience, and built the foundation of my knowledge in development and publishing.
Several years later I’m starting a new studio for completely different reasons. Over the past seven years I have created a lot of games. I have had a lot of successes, and a lot of failures. There are so many things I wish I had known when I had been creating games.

Whispering Willows has been nominated as a finalist for Game Connection Europe. Game studios from around the world are attending and competing in front of judges from companies like Sony, Rovio, Activision Blizzard, Microsoft, and Namco Bandai. We’re in the running for the categories “Best Storytelling.” “Downloadable Game,” and “Casual Game.” If you’d like to meet up with producers David Logan and Leif Dahl, they’ll be taking the trip to Paris where the competition is being held. We can hardly wait!
Casual Connect was an incredible success. Leif Dahl, Angel Wylie, and Scott Chalmers, and I attended to showcase Whispering Willows. On day 1, I spoke to attendees about the game’s development in a talk titled “Whispering Willows: Funded with Passion.”
Last week I spoke at The Digital Hollywood Content Summit in Santa Monica. The summit featured creative and crowdfunding talks from top producers around the world. I was on the panel “Nurturing the Creative Spark: The Producer’s Toolkit,” along with Jim Redner who led the Oculus Rift Kickstarter campaign; Kristen Nedopak, founder of The Geekie Awards; and moderator Chris Plaff, a leading new media and technology producer.
We are excited to announce that Night Light Interactive will be bringing Whispering Willows to Rooster Teeth‘s fan convention RTX in July! We will have our own booth with a playable demo and be giving away and selling swag! Rooster Teeth is best known for Red vs. Blue and our very own composer Steve Goldshein writes some of the music for the show!
I’ve been working hard the past several months establishing indie game studio Night Light Interactive. We are pleased to announce that we are working on our first title “Whispering Willows,” a sidescrolling horror puzzle game. It will be released for OUYA, a revolutionary new Android-based console and later for PC (Steam), and mobile devices. We are working on the game for the “Create” game jam presented by Kill Screen and OUYA. You can check out some early footage from our tech demo.

There had been a number of things I had been wanting to implement on my website and was finally able to this last week with the help of Jason McGuiness, a local web designer. The biggest addition to my website are the social media buttons underneath the navigation in the top right. Jason also fixed various bugs and formatting issues I was having.

I thought it was time for a change, so I moved my website over to WordPress. I still want to figure out how to integrate more of the old art into the site. Lots of changes this next week. Don’t worry, you can still see all the old stuff at www.davidclogan.com/oldsite, but all new updates and changes will be made to this site.
